ABC Islands, Alaska

The ABC Islands (Alaskan islands) of Admiralty, Baranof, and Chichagof are located in the northern part of the Alexander Archipelago, off the southeastern coast of Alaska.

The area is known as the heart of the famous Inside Passage and comprises giant bays and fjords and hundreds of islands. The islands are known for their wilderness, wildlife and sea life.

Most of the islands' area is federally protected wilderness. There is only minimal industry and human presence on the islands, despite the fact that Baranof and Chichagof are among the largest islands in the United States.

This region offers several popular ports of call including Juneau, Sitka and Skagway. Adventure activities available in the region include sea kayaking, nature walks and small boat tours and river rafting. A scenic tramway ride and a trip on the White Pass & Yukon Route narrow gauge railway is also popular with tourists.
