Boulogne Sur Mer, France

Boulogne at the mouth of the river Liane is France's biggest fishing port. It has been an important town and port since Roman times. It is also an attractive seaside resort, with Nausicaa, the world-class sea-life centre; sandy beaches and good facilities for children

The attractive medieval quarter, the ville haute, is contained within the old Roman town walls and is dominated by a grand, domed cathedral. Amid the newer shopping streets of the ville basse are some of the best food shops in the whole region, along with a large array of fish restaurants.
