Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily). It is located south of Corsica, between the Balearic islands and the Italian peninsula and . Relatively free of large cities or heavy industry, the island boasts some of the country's cleanest and least crowded beaches. Sardinia holds some fascinating vestiges of the various civilizations that passed through including Roman and Carthaginian ruins, Genoan fortresses and a string of lovely Pisan churches.

Cagliari is the capital of the island of Sardinia. It is one of the most interesting and attractive places in Italy with sporting and cultural events; museums, the tourist port, known as one of the best places for sailing, and a lovely mild climate throughout the entire year. Other destinations in Sardinia include Olbia, Bosa, Sassari, Oristano and Nuoro.

Port Location – The port is located in downtown Cagliari; less than 1 km from the town centre.

Travel Links – The Elmas airport, which is about ten minutes from the center of town, is served by several airlines offering daily flights to the mainland, other island locations, and international airports. Several airlines serve Cagliari Elmas Airport and connect it to many Italian and European cities.
Daily ferries operated by the Tirrenia company link Cagliari directly to Civitavecchia, with less frequent connections during the week to and from Arbatax, Naples, Palermo, Trapani and Tunisia. The ports of Olbia and Porto Torres can be reached from Genoa.
Cagliari can be reached by train or bus. There are two railway networks: the Ferrovíe dello Stato (National Railway), with a station in Piazza Matteotti near the port.
