Koran is a tiny, isolated fishing community with a very intact traditional way of life. Today on Kamchatka peninsula there are the descendents of native people living that had been living there long before Russian troops of Cossacks came in l7th century.
Their main occupation was fishing, hunting on land and sea. Harvest gathering also played an important role in their economy. Sledges and dog teams were the local means of transport. Dogs were not so much hunters' helpers as draught-animals. The Itelmen sewed clothing and foot wear of leather of deer, dogs, wild animals and sea animals as well as salmon leather and grassy materials.
