Karlskrona, Sweden

Karlskrona is a city in the province of Blekinge in south-eastern Sweden. Karlskrona is known as Sweden's only baroque city and is on UNESCO's list of irreplaceable World Heritage Sites, an outstanding example of a late 17th-century European planned naval city.

Attractions include Drottningskär's Citadel and Kungsholm's fortress with its circular harbour and exotic plants from all over the world. You can stroll from picturesque Björkholmen via Count Wachtmeister's residence to the Naval Museum, the sloop and longboat shed and the bathing beach on Stumholmen.

The Great Square, one of northern Europe's largest, has the Fredrik Church and the Church of the Holy Trinity, also known as the German Church. The Admiralty Church is Sweden's largest wooden church

The allotment cottages on Brändaholm is a great photo opportunity, as is the view of the ”town of islands” from the top of Bryggareberget Hill. Outside town are the open air museum in Vämöpark and Skärva, the country residence of the famous boat builder Fredrik Henrik af Chapman.
