Ko Lipe, Thailand

Koh Lipe is an island in the Adang-Rawi Archipelago in the Satun Province of Thailand. It is a tiny island in the Andaman Sea located 70 km off the southwest coast of Thailand near the Malaysian border. This island has four main beaches: Sunset beach, Sunrise beach, Karma Beach and Pattaya beach.. It is possible to walk around the entire island in little over an hour.

The island is home to about 500 Chao Ley, or Sea Gypsies, who were given a grant to half of the island and live in small villages, predominantly around the far east side of the island near Sunrise Beach. The name "Ko Lipe" means "Paper Island" in the local Chao Ley language.

Travel Links – In high season (November to May) there are 5 locations from which you can take a ferry or speedboat to Koh Lipe: Pak Bara, Langkawi, Phi Phi, Ko Lanta, and Trang.
In low season (May to October) there is one Speedboat day from Pak Baraat around 11:30hrs.In low season, there are no ferries from Langkawi, Phi Phi, Ko Lanta, or Trang.
From Langkawi, Malaysia there are two speedboats per day: one at 9:45 am and one at 2:30 pm. Boats dock at the south end of Pattaya Beach.
