Puerto Cortes, Honduras

Puerto Cortés is a port city for San Pedro Sula, the industrial capital of Honduras in the Cortés department of Honduras. It is on the Caribbean Sea coast, north of San Pedro Sula and east of Omoa. It is Honduras main sea port and is one of the deepest and most important seaport in Central America.

Puerto Cortes is a commercial center without much attraction for tourists, however a day trip to the Maya ruins at Copán is a must. Unparalleled in its architectural beauty, Copán is the fairest of all Maya sites for its heroic sculpture. The town itself has has a very attractive central park, decent hotels and restaurants in the town center, on the municipal beach, and on other nearby beaches. The municipal beach is a big attraction for locals on weekends and holidays.
