Traben-Trarbach, Germany

Traben-Trarbach on the Middle Moselle is a town in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Traben lies on the Moselle’s left bank at the foot of the former fort of Mont Royal, and Trarbach lies on the right bank on the Hunsrück side. While Traben stretches in a broad strip along the river, Trarbach instead stretches inland between rather steep mountains, particularly up the Kautenbach valley.

Attractions in Traben-Trarbach include the city bridge, gate, and castle wall (which is now a restaurant). On the top of the hill, on the old castle wall, is a great view of the city. There is a lot of great hiking in this area. Also this is a major city in the wine producing area of Germany, with several wine microbreweries.
