Spanish Wells, Bahamas

Spanish Wells is a small town on the island of St George's Cay at the northern tip of Eleuthera. Russell Island is linked by a 5.8km bridge, which has become an integral part of the Spanish Wells' community.

The island was used as the last stop for the Spanish ships returning to Europe where the ships refilled their water supply from the wells created for this purpose hence, the English name of the settlement: Spanish Wells.

Predominantly a fishing village and referred to as the fishing capital of the Bahamas, the main catch is lobster known locally as crawfish.
