Adana, Turkey

Adana is a city in Turkey and a major agricultural and commercial center. The city is situated on the Seyhan River, 30 kilometres inland from the Mediterranean Sea, in south-central Anatolia.

Adana has many historical landmarks dating back to the late 15th and 16th Century. These include the historical neighborhood of Tepeba?, the Ta?köprü, a 4th century Roman bridge, Ramazano?lu Hall, Çar?? Hamam (Turkish bath of the Bazaar) and Irmak Hamam (Turkish bath of the River).

Adana is also home to the Sabanci Merkez Camii Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the Middle East. It was built in 1998 and is located on the west bank of Seyhan River. Just north is Merkez Park, a 33 hectare urban park featuring interesting landscaping, a 2,100-seater amphitheatre, a Chinese Garden and two cafes.

Travel Links – Adana Sakirpasa Airport is an airport on the outskirts of the city of Adana. It's a fairly short cab ride to city center and is served frequently by dolmus.

Daily trains head for Adana from lots of places around Turkey, including Istanbul and Ankara. There is also a once-weekly train service from Aleppo, Syria, departing on Fridays at 3AM from Aleppo and calling at Adana station at 11:05AM same day.

Buses leave Adana frequently to Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir and other places. From Istanbul, it takes about 12 hrs. There are several companies to choose between, for example Varan, Ulusoy, Metro.
