Nev?ehir is a city and the capital district of Nev?ehir Province in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey. It is located at a distance of 290 km (180 mi) from the capital Ankara, and is within the historical region of Cappadocia.
The Cappadocia region is best known for its soft volcanic rock which has been eroded by wind and weather into hundreds of strangely shaped pillar, cones and “fairy chimneys” of pink, green and yellow tones. Amongst the rocks there are many houses, churches, chapels and monasteries.
