Bateman's Bay, NSW

Batemans Bay is a town and a bay in the South Coast region of the state of New South Wales, Australia. The town is located on the Princes Highway (Highway 1) about 280 kilometres (170 mi) from Sydney, 760 km (470 mi) from Melbourne and 151 km (94 mi) from Canberra via the Kings Highway. The Clyde River empties into the Tasman Sea at Batemans Bay.

It is a popular tourist destination with attractions including recreational fishing, swimming, snorkelling, diving, kayaking, water skiing, jet skies and beach walks. A cruise up the Clyde river to Nelligen is popular, as is a visit to the historic town of Mogo. Mogo offers great art and crafts, a zoo and a recreated gold mining village.

Native wildlife that you can encounter in the region include; kangaroos, wallabies, possums, bandicoots, sea eagles and brilliantly coloured parrots amongst others. If you are lucky or persistent you may even encounter some of the rarer or shyer creatures such as a lyrebird, wombat or even a platypus.

Port Location – Boats moor on the Clyde River at Batemans Bay.

Travel Links – The nearest airport is at Moruya, 27 km south of Batemans Bay, or a 20 minute drive. A hire car (arrange before you arrive) can be collected at the airport. Rex Regional Airlines flies into Moruya from Sydney.

Batemans Bay is also accessible by bus from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
