Sifnos, Greece

The island of Sifnos is a unique destination in the Aegean Sea. It is one of the six islands of the Western Cyclades, situated between the islands of Serifos and Milos. The island has become known for its traditional whitewashed settlements, its cleanliness, for its countless churches and monasteries, for its superb beaches, and its living cultural heritage.

The main town on the island is known as Apollonia located near the center of the island, and is a center for folk arts, where delicate laces and distinctive island pottery are sold in the markets. Its second major population center is the hilltop village named Kastro, built on top of a high cliff on its northwestern shore. The port settlement, on the west cost of the island is known as Kamares.
