Altea is a Valencian town and municipality located in the province of Alicante, Spain, on the section of Mediterranean coast called the Costa Blanca. However this lovely fishing village has been spared the mass tourism of the Costa Blanca and its original atmosphere has been retained.
Altea boasts cobblestoned streets and attractive whitewashed houses which descend a hill to the popular seafront promenade and port. The views are magnificent from the Plaza de Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, at the highest point of the village, where there is a church topped by unique blue and white tiled cupolas. Other attractions include the old centre, the Campomanes marina and of course the beaches.
